Meet Dr. Evelyn Obosi - Odogwu, Consultant Psychiatrist, M.B.B.S., MRCPsych (UK), F.R.C.P (Canada), PGDip (Public Health)

Dr. Evelyn Obosi - Odogwu  is a dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist and Medical Director at The Rapha Specialist Clinic in Airdrie, Alberta. With a robust professional background in psychiatry, Dr. Obosi - Odogwu holds independent licensure from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta, along with regular licenses from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick and Full License from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan. Additionally, she  is registered with the Medical Council of Ireland, highlighting her international qualifications and commitment to high standards in psychiatric practice.

Academically, Dr. Obosi - Odogwu achieved a Fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in May 2015, following earlier recognition from the Royal College of Psychiatrists in the UK  in 2011 with a Membership of The Royal College of Psychiatrists U.K. She completed her Psychiatric Post Graduate Training at The Prestigious Mater - UCD Psychiatric Program in Dublin Ireland. She  earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Health (Health Services Management Stream) from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University of London, in June 2013. Additionally, Dr. Obosi - Odogwu  holds a Certificate in Neuro-Psychopharmacology and a Professional Certificate in Healthcare Management from University College Dublin, along with an M.B.B.S. from Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital in Nigeria.

With extensive experience in mental health services, Dr. Obosi - Odogwu  has provided care across various settings, including acute adult units and child and adolescent units. She has  been instrumental in delivering multidisciplinary mental health services and has contributed significantly to education by teaching family medicine and psychiatric  residents and medical students in Ireland and Saskatchewan.

In terms of clinical experience, Dr. Obosi - Odogwu  has served in various esteemed positions throughout her career. She has  held the role of Consultant Psychiatrist at The Pearl Specialist Clinic Airdrie, Alberta and  The Prince Albert Mental Health Services, where she provided comprehensive mental health services, including managing complex psychiatric cases for both adults and children. Her  experience extends to working in multidisciplinary teams and offering community psychiatric services, as well as providing on-call mental health support, showcasing her  commitment to patient-centered care. Notably, Dr. Obosi - Odogwu managed and supervised the Specialized Clozapine Clinic at Prince Albert Mental Health Services, demonstrating her leadership and expertise in complex pharmacological treatments.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Obosi - Odogwu  is committed to education and has held various teaching positions. She currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Saskatchewan, where she imparts knowledge and skills to the next generation of health care professionals. Previously, Dr. Obosi - Odogwu was a Clinical Tutor at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, teaching fourth-year medical students and facilitating her clinical placements.
